Reptile Scan is built around scanning a QR code on the tub, on iOS, Android and web, with animal and clutch counts that rise by tier. KeeperOS is built around tapping the tub on a map of your actual room, with no animal or clutch cap on any tier including Free.
Reptile Scan describe themselves as "made by breeders for breeders" and lead with "Keeping reptiles - made easy". Their headline mechanic is in the name: they generate QR codes for your reptiles, and in their words "Register feedings with a scan and a few taps on your device. You can even feed a whole rack with a single scan." If your rack is already labelled, that is a coherent and fast loop.
KeeperOS takes the other road deliberately. Instead of a code on the tub, the app holds a visual map of the room — racks, tubs and enclosures laid out where they physically sit — and you tap the one in front of you. Neither approach is a missing feature in the other; they are two answers to the same question, and which one is better depends on whether your rack is labelled and whether you like holding a camera.
KeeperOS is one product across keeping and breeding. The animal you logged feedings for as a single pet keeps its whole history on the day you pair it, so growing into a breeding project is a change of tier, not a change of tool.

Because we tried the maths on the actual loop and it did not win. Scanning means unlock, open the app, aim the camera at the label, confirm. Tapping means open the app to the room you were already in and touch the tub. The room view is fewer steps for the common case, and it needs nothing printed or stuck to a tub. Reptile Scan built their product around scanning and it suits keepers whose racks are already labelled — if that is you, they are the better fit and we would rather say so.
Theirs is stated as 10 reptiles, 2 clutches and 100 registrations per month, with 30 days of unlimited registrations for new users. KeeperOS Free has no animal cap, no clutch cap and no record cap — the limits between our tiers are collection-level tools and the breeding module, not how many animals you own. KeeperOS is a web app you install to your home screen; Reptile Scan ships native iOS and Android alongside a web console. If having the app in a store matters to you, that is a real point for them today.
